These terms govern your use of the Fidem website and the Fidem Studio application. They are written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Last updated · 10 August 2026“Fidem”, “we”, and “us” mean Fidem, a business operated from Stanford, California, United States, reachable at contact@fidemmanufacture.com. “You” means the person or company using the service. By using Fidem you agree to these terms; if you are agreeing for a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
Fidem analyses CAD assemblies and returns design-for-manufacturing findings, an independent should-cost estimate, and — where you request it — matches to contract manufacturers and tooling to correspond with them.
Fidem is in early access. Features may change or be withdrawn, availability is not guaranteed, and defects are expected. Do not rely on Fidem as the sole check on a design heading for tooling. Where we provide the service without charge, we may change or discontinue it at any time.
You retain all right, title, and interest in the CAD files, drawings, specifications, and other material you upload. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service for you: to store your files, process them through our geometry and costing engine, and display the results back to you. That licence ends when you delete the material or close your account.
We do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not disclose your identity or your geometry to a factory unless you instruct us to as part of a sourcing request.
This clause matters more than the rest, so it is stated plainly. Fidem’s should-cost figures, DFM findings, tolerance and material commentary, lead times, and supplier rankings are engineering estimates produced by software. They are not quotations, not offers capable of acceptance, not a warranty of manufacturability, and not a guarantee of any price a factory will honour.
Actual costs depend on tooling decisions, material markets, order quantity, negotiation, and factory-specific conditions we cannot observe. Decisions to cut tooling, place orders, or commit capital remain yours, and should be validated by a qualified manufacturing engineer and confirmed quotations. We are not acting as your engineer of record.
Factories surfaced through Fidem are independent businesses. We assess capability from the records available to us and grade quotes against our own cost model, but we do not manufacture your parts and we are not party to your agreement with a supplier. We are not responsible for a supplier’s quality, delivery, conduct, or handling of your intellectual property once you choose to engage them.
We may suspend accounts that break these rules, usually after telling you why.
We treat your uploaded material as confidential and will protect it with the care described in our privacy policy. If you need a signed mutual NDA before uploading anything, write to us and we will sign one.
Early access may be provided free of charge. If we introduce fees we will tell you the price and terms before they apply to you, and you may stop using the service instead of paying.
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that output will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fidem is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost savings, scrapped tooling, or production delays, even if we were advised such damages were possible.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
You will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from material you upload without the right to do so, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms.
You may stop using Fidem and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, or if we discontinue the service. On termination your files are deleted as described in the privacy policy. Sections 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, and 12 survive.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts of Santa Clara County, California have exclusive jurisdiction, and each party consents to venue there.
We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the current version, and we will give notice of material changes before they take effect. Continuing to use Fidem after that means you accept the revision.
